Charlotte Politi is a versatile conductor, equally at home in the ballet, opera, and symphonic repertoire. She has recently conducted orchestras including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Orchestre National de Metz, and the Orchestra da Camera del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.

 

She is Associate Conductor of the Royal Ballet in London’s Covent Garden, where she conducts regularly. She made her debut with the Royal Ballet during its 2023 tour of Japan, conducting A Month in the Country. Since then, she has conducted The Nutcracker, Festival of New Choreography, and Rhapsody, and will return to lead new productions during the 2026/27 Season. She also conducts regularly for the Birmingham Royal Ballet. Her ballet repertoire includes Coppélia, Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Romeo and Juliet, Don Quixote.

 

Recent engagements have included appearances with the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet in Oslo, the Semperoper Dresden, and the Waterperry Opera Festival, where she will return in summer 2026 to conduct L'elisir d'amore by Gaetano Donizetti.

 

Born in Paris and raised in Florence, Charlotte began studying conducting with Piero Bellugi. In 2015, she was selected as a student at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. She subsequently continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe in Karlsruhe, in Germany, where she conducted orchestras including the Baden-Baden Philharmonie, the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker, the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen, and the Philharmonisches Kammerorchester Dresden. She further refined her training at the University of Michigan in the United States, earning a Master's degree in Orchestral Conducting.

 

In 2020, she was selected by Riccardo Muti to participate in the Italian Opera Academy in Ravenna. In 2021, she attended the Conductors’ Academy of the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich under the guidance of Paavo Järvi.

 

She was appointed Assistant Conductor of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra for the 2022–23 season and Fellow Conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra for the 2023–24 season.
